You mention the danger of art "being d...Great post! You mention the danger of art "being dismissed as reactionary or decadent". I am confused by this idea of "decadent" art. It seems to be a term of abuse used by those who want to make a mechanical link between capitalist decline and some kind of inferiority in the art which comes out of such times (see Plekhanov's rejection of Cubism). I would be really interested in hearing your opinion on whether "decadence" is a legitimate term for Marxists to use in relation to art.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
